FAQs

Who is SUMMER HOP for?

SUMMER HOP is split into three parts, and each bit might appeal to the same or slightly different people. The main TALKS part of the day is a bit of an industry focus, looking at research, hearing from women who work in beer, and it’s a deep dive into the issues and solutions. We want to get representatives from as many breweries, bars and bottle shops as possible. It’s also open to anyone with an interest in the area, and that might be someone who loves beer, is thinking about a career in beer, or something else.

If the programme sounds in any way interesting to you, you’re very much encouraged to join us.

Is it just for women?

No. Women On Tap CIC generally encourages everyone to engage in our work and projects because we believe women cannot fight this fight alone. We need allies and we are part of a wider community of underrepresented groups. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts, and we believe the key to real progress and change in equality, diversity and inclusion is to join together on this mission and make the end-game non-negotiable.

Please bring your allies along!

Do I have to come to all three parts of the day?

No. Because different people might want to come to different bits, we’ve ticketed everything separately. You get to choose. This might depend on your interests, budget, or availability, so by keeping each bit separate it can work for you.

If you are at the talks and want to skip the tasting but come back for the social, you’re very welcome to chill in the taproom downstairs, maybe grab some street food or (weather allowing) soak up some rays in the beer garden, and rejoin us from 5pm.

Will the main taproom be open?

We will have the place to ourselves until 3pm when the main taproom will open to the public. We will continue to have the upstairs event space to ourselves for the whole day, but you are very welcome (and encouraged!) to explore the taproom as you like.

There’s a huge viewing gallery where you can see the main shiny brewery and if the weather is good, there’s a nice beer garden too! The taproom closes at 10pm.

What if I really want to come but I just can’t afford a ticket?

We don’t want cost to be a barrier. Please drop us a line at info@womenontap.co.uk and we will happily look at what we can do for you, 100% confidentially.

Where does the ticket money go?

We are committed to paying women. We can’t always afford to pay full rates but in those cases we offer an honorarium payment.

As a certified social enterprise and registered non-profit, we are only able to do this thanks to the support of our sponsors and by using all ticket money to reinvest into our work and projects.

We are currently fundraising to bring our main festival back in 2025. If you’d like to find out more about how you can help, let us know.

What will the venue be like?

Rooster’s Taproom is a working brewery with a spacious, modern taproom at Hornbeam Park, which is just on the outskirts of Harrogate. It’s on a business park which is made up of offices and industrial units. There’s Harrogate College also on the same park, and there’s a hotel and restaurant nearby too.

For SUMMER HOP we are using the upstairs event room, which is light and spacious. It can only be accessed by stairs so if you have any questions around access please contact us before booking.

How do I get to it?

Rooster’s Taproom (Unit H5, Fifth Avenue, Hornbeam Park Ave, Harrogate HG2 8QT) is easily accessible by car from the main routes into Harrogate and there’s free parking outside.

One of the easiest ways to access it is by train. Hornbeam Park train station is a 2 minute train ride from the main Harrogate station and Rooster’s Taproom is 10 minute walk from Hornbeam Park once you’ve arrived.

Bike racks are also available outside should you feel energetic!

Ready to book? You can do that here.
