Beer Equality Advisory Board Set to Continue Driving Change in the Industry
Women On Tap CIC is proud to announce the continuation of its Advisory Board following the successful completion of a critical 6-month strategy project.
With an ambitious new plan in place, the Board will now focus on delivering a dynamic programme of initiatives over the next 12 months to support women in beer, empower employers, and drive cultural change across the industry.
2024 marked a year of reflection and strategic planning for Women On Tap CIC. After appointing a new Advisory Board, we embarked on a comprehensive review process to assess our impact and develop a forward-thinking strategy. The result is a robust Theory of Change, outlining a series of targeted initiatives designed to address systemic barriers and create a more inclusive beer industry.
The decision to extend the Advisory Board’s tenure comes at a pivotal moment. Recent reports highlight the urgent need for action. The Dea Latis Gender Pint Gap: Revisited report, published in May 2024, reveals that the gender gap in beer consumption and representation remains stark. Similarly, the latest SIBA annual report notes that there has been “no overall increase in the number of workers identifying as female in the independent beer industry.” These findings underscore the importance of sustained efforts to achieve meaningful progress.
Rachel Auty, Founder of Women On Tap, expressed her gratitude for the Board’s contributions and her optimism for the future:
“The past six months have been transformative. With the Advisory Board’s support, we’ve developed innovative ideas, forged key connections, and created a clear roadmap for impact. I’m thrilled that we can continue this vital work at a time when the beer industry must embrace change to thrive. Over the next year, we’ll turn these plans into action, and I’m deeply grateful to our Board for their dedication and expertise.”
The 2025 Advisory Board brings together a diverse group of industry leaders and advocates, including:
Karen Bosher, Portfolio NED and Board Advisor - European Diversity Champion 2022
Amanda Bruns, Founder/Chaos Coordinator, Ale Advised
Jennifer Easton, Account Executive at Wonderworks Communications Ltd
Amy Edgar, Customer Diversity & Inclusion Specialist, Transport for London
Laura Emson, CAMRA National Director for People & Awards
Erin Fleming, People Analytics & Insights Manager, KingMakers
Laura Mackie, Non-Executive at SIBA
Annabel Smith, Award-winning Beer Sommelier, educator, writer, and broadcaster
Catherine Webber, Business Development Manager, Attic Brew Co and Founder of Brum Beer Babs
Since the 6-month review period began, Women On Tap has already been making new waves. This has included being shortlisted for a British Guild of Beer Writers communications award, partnering with SIBA on a new Diversity Champion award, engaging new sponsorships, taking on the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) campaign, and securing some vital funding.
The volunteer Advisory Board and Women On Tap’s directors will now work to implement further initiatives that promote gender equality, support women in beer, and inspire broader cultural change within the industry.
