Let’s talk about Women In Music

Did you know just over 14% of writers currently signed to publishers and just under 20% of acts signed to labels are female? This gap is surprisingly large and is indicative of widespread discrimination against women in the music industry.

At Women On Tap CIC we focus on women in beer, but we understand that broader equality matters if we are to ever see the change we need to see.

With this in mind, every year we include an element of women in music on our festival programme. For 2022 we have not one, but two Women In Music showcases. They are both completely free to attend.

Saturday 7th May 2022 | Major Tom’s Social | From 4pm

Playing live we’ve got local musicians:

Followed by a DJ set from Xariella ‘til late (See Soundcloud and Mixcloud)

Sarah-Louise Boyle playing at Harrogate Brewing Co taproom for the 2021 Festival

Sunday 8th May 2022 | Harrogate Brewing Co Taproom | From 3pm

Playing live at our closing party we’ve got:

Do join us if you are able and help us support women and the mission for equality and fairness in the music industry. If it’s an area that particularly interests you we recommend checking out The F-list, a fellow CIC fighting for a better world with a focus on women in music. In addition, if you’re on Spotify there’s a new F-List playlist for women of indie, alternative and rock featuring over 6 hours of great music by women - and if you want to be added you can let them know, too.

We hope to see you at the weekend.
